Brian graduated in 2006 with an accounting degree from UW-Green Bay. Early in his career he worked as a credit analyst for a large energy company where he performed financial analysis on commercial and industrial customers. During that time he completed the University of Houston’s graduate program in energy risk management. After graduating in 2008 and getting his Series 3 license he got a job as a natural gas trader managing storage and transportation assets in the upper Midwest and Canada.

In 2010 Brian pursued an opportunity to work in the compressed natural gas (CNG) business which was an emerging market at the time. A major portion of his role was procuring renewable natural gas (RNG) from landfill and anaerobic digester (AD) projects to sell as vehicle fuel.  In 2017 he left to take an asset development role in the renewable energy space, working for a company that built and operated anaerobic digesters. In both his CNG and AD roles he was responsible for registration and compliance generating RIN and LCFS credits under the federal and state programs.

In 2019 Brian joined the Pagel Family Businesses (PFB) as Chief Financial Officer. His background in commodities, risk management, and sustainability translated well his role at PFB which is involved in the first virtual pipeline RNG project in the country (where biomethane is compressed and trucked to a pipeline interconnect). Brian is also helping lead PFB’s efforts towards achieving Net Zero which is a core element of PFB’s vision: Growing together for a better tomorrow.
