In response to the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Paper Transport demonstrated remarkable adaptability by swiftly transforming its advanced tablet technology for new driver orientation. This transformation was driven by the necessity to safeguard the well-being of all team members while continuing to provide a high-quality on-boarding process.
Traditionally, new driver orientation involved a comprehensive, in-person 3-day training program. However, in the face of the pandemic, Paper Transport recognized the urgency to minimize physical interactions and reduce the duration of in-person training. The innovative solution was to condense the orientation period to a more efficient 1.5-day virtual program.
With the use of Samsung tablets that contain a host of applications (from electronic logs to communications to training) issued to professional truck drivers during orientation, the PTI on-boarding process is fully interactive, engaging, and virtual to ensure the safety of all team members.
The new employee orientation process introduces new drivers to the company and the job. Safety Coordinator, Steve Wolf, tells us about the new orientation process in the video:

This initiative showcased the company’s ability to navigate unprecedented challenges by leveraging advanced solutions, ultimately reaffirming its position as an industry leader in the face of adversity.
