(January 12, 2023) – Paper Transport, a leading Wisconsin-based for-hire truckload carrier and provider of brokerage services, has obtained two new locations in The Broadway District of Green Bay, Wis. The first location is within Base Companies at 340 N Broadway and will house an upwards of 50 employees. The second location Paper Transport obtained is the Larson Canning Company building located at 540 N Broadway Street, which will be renovated over the course of 2023. These moves will take Paper Transport back to their roots, as roughly 70 small businesses shape the downtown Green Bay area.
“The opening of the downtown office is a statement that we are on the cusp of another significant run,” shared Paper Transport’s CEO Ben Schill. According to Schill, Paper Transport and the city of Green Bay have very similar paths, as both have evolved and grown significantly over the past two decades. “Paper Transport is one of the largest success stories when it comes to the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce’s support of business startups. In 1990, Paper Transport was born and leaned on the Chamber’s incubator program to get on our feet. At that time, we had two founders and five trucks. Fast forward 30 years, and the company has grown to approximately 1,300 employees and over $300M in revenue. At our first new location, we are ironically located right next to the Chamber’s Urban Hub – serving as the incubator for local tech start-ups.”
“The Greater Green Bay Chamber is proud to have supported Paper Transport with their expansion to downtown Green Bay. What started over 20 years ago as part of the Chamber’s business incubator program, now called the Startup Hub, has flourished into an enterprise employing over 1,000 people. Paper Transport’s continued growth is a true success story and shows the commitment they have to this community,” stated President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Laurie Radke.
Paper Transport’s first location within Base Companies will house an upwards of 50 employees. This location will join ‘The Rail Yard Innovation District’ neighboring Titletown Brewing Company, Wonderful Things Market, Urban Hub, and many more downtown businesses. Paper Transport’s Brokerage and Power Only team will take majority residence here until the second location is finished with renovations. “We have an amazing staff that has grown from two people to over 30 people in the last two years. The talent within the team has me confident we will deliver our plan to add new customer opportunities that will allow for organic growth within both service offices,” expressed Brokerage & Power Only Director, Nick Skeen.
The second location will house 100 employees and provide flexibility and a multitude of options for Paper Transport to continue to grow. “We are really excited to put our stamp on the new construction for our second office building. This renovation will be an extension of our office at Mid Valley. We are not starting a new business; we are building on the foundation that we have in place. The two main offices are part of one larger team and our intent is to have it feel that way for all employees,” shared Ben Schill.
Their current location on Mid Valley Drive in De Pere has been their headquarters since 2016. This location has proven beneficial as it provides weekly training classes for new Class A license holders who have committed to the company, as well as proven to be easy and accessible building for Paper Transport’s semi-truck drivers to stop in. The Mid Valley location will remain open and house a majority of its employees.
Paper Transport would like to thank the Chamber of Commerce, Base Companies, City of Green Bay, and WEDC for your partnership and collaboration.
